Walkthroughs

Alola Route 6

Now that you have scared away the Sudowoodo, you can explore Route 6, a.k.a. "Straight Street".

• View the Akala Island Map

Route 6

At the start of Route 6, you can immediately battle Youngster Anthony. Having defeated him, you can walk to the other side of the path and pick up a Super Potion. Proceeding a little further, you find yourself challenged by Pokémon Breeder William.

Behind that patch of grass is a narrow pathway, which leads you into an area of Paniola Town that you had not been in before. Here you can find the TM88 (Sleep Talk) and a hidden Super Repel on the hay bails.

Going back onto Route 6, you walk further south and encounter a Mudsdale with an unkown trainer who asks you for help. Two Team Skull Grunts are bothering a Drifloon, and seem to recognize you from Melemele Island. The trainer introduces herself as Hapu and says that she will battle one of the grunts, leaving the other one to you.

After defeating him, both grunts flee after Hapu threatens to let her Mudsdale Stomp on them. Hapu thanks you and recommends trying out the Battle Royal. The two then ride off. You can go straight to the Battle Royal in Royal Avenue to the east, but for now let's continue exploring Route 6.

You will find that Beauty Brittney is waiting to battle you. In the grass behind Brittney, you can use Stoutland Search to find a hidden X Speed (raises a Pokémon's Speed in battle). Clear the rocks on the west with Tauros Charge to find a Rare Candy. Behind it is more tall grass, where you can find the same Pokémon as before, including one addition:

In this same grass, with Stoutland Search, you will find a hidden Carbos (raises the Speed of a Pokémon). Continuing along the route, walk north to battle Dancer Maika. At the end of Route 6 you can enter Heahea City again, but now you'll end up on the east side of the Pokémon Center, which was blocked by a boy on a Stoutland before.

Back in Heahea City

The boy on the Stoutland is now blocking your way to the Hano Grand Resort on the east, so for now the only way to go is west. The first thing you can check out is the Dimensional Research Lab. Next to the giant satellite, you will find a Zygarde Cell. Walk over to the right side of the lab and you'll find a narrow pathway which leads to a Big Mushroom.

Entering the lab, you're told by the receptionist that the Professor is out, and won't let you go any further. Exit the lab and go further west, to enter the next building. On the second floor is Game Freak HQ. On the western side, a lady by the vending machine will give you a Lemonade. There's also a guy telling you to come back when you have completed your Island Challenge. The man at the white board also wants you to come back later, once you've filled up your Pokédex.

On the third floor, you encounter a room belonging to the Aether Foundation. Inside you are told that they help protect Pokémon that have been hurt. There isn't much else to do here, so exit the building and keep heading west where you'll find the entrance to Diglett's Tunnel, on the south. Inside the tunnel, you find Olivia talking to two Aether Foundation workers. She tells you that only strong trainers can go through the tunnel, and that you should go to Wela Volcano Park for Kiawe's trial next. Though you can't walk too far, there are some Pokémon to find in the tunnel.

Exiting the tunnel, there's nothing else to do here for now in Heahea City, so you can go back to Route 6 and continue on to Royal Avenue. However, now that you have access to Lapras Paddle, there's also some new areas to explore on Melemele Island. If you want to do that now, go to the Ferry Terminal in Heahea City and take the ferry back to Hau'oli City.

Backtracking with Lapras Paddle

Back in Hau'oli City, the first place to go back to is Hau'oli City Beachfront. First of all, you can use Stoutland Search here to dig up some hidden items. There's a hidden Fresh Water next to the palm tree north of the norten slope to the beach, and a hidden Pearl east of the sunbatching woman.

Now use Lapras Paddle to surf on the water and go east to find yourself on Melemele Sea. Here new Pokémon can be found in the water. Wild Luvdisc can hold Heart Scales. Swimming on further you can use Stoutland Search on the eastern island to find a hidden Rare Candy. In this area you can also find a bubbling spot to fish for the more rare Pokémon, and two Swimmers to battle, Swimmer Jade and Swimmer Portia.

The area on the southeast is blocked by rocks. Sadly, Tauros can't swim and Lapras can't crush rocks, so you'll have to come back when you have something that can do both. For now continue surfing southeast until you end up in a new area in the Melemele Sea.

A New Area in the Melemele Sea

In this area there's two more Swimmers to battle, Swimmer Kelsie and Swimmer Shelby. Surfing to the north, you'll find another bubbling spot to fish at in the middle of three big rocks. Southeast are more rocks blocking your path, so can't go there yet.

Continue surfing north to end up in the part of Melemele Sea next to Hau'oli Outskirts. In the middle is an island where you can find a Soft Sand (boosts the power of Ground-type moves). Southeast of the island is Swimmer Kalani ready to battle. West of Kalani you'll find a Super Repel. In the southeast area there are more rocks blocking your path, so for now go west of the island to battle the last Trainer, Swimmer Yasu.

Heading Back Through Seaward Cave

When you're done exploring Melemele Sea, the next stop is Seaward Cave and Kala'e Bay. Go on land on Hau'oli Outskirts on the west and go to your house. Keep following the road on the left of your house until you end up at Route 3 again. Go across the bridge and go west into Melemele Meadow. Enter Seaward cave on the southwest of the meadow and surf on the water in the western area. On the other side of the water you'll find a Max Revive.

Back in Kala'e Bay

Jump off the ledges on the east and continue walking east to enter Kala'e Bay again.

Walk to the north to get a Net Ball. Here, you will find a photo spot where you can takes photos of Corsola, Alolan Dugtrio and Slowpoke. Walk south from the entrance to find a Zygarde Cell. Now that you can surf and fish, you can catch more Pokémon here.

Wild Shellder can hold Pearls. Use Lapras Paddle to surf to the other side, where you can find a Dive Ball on the island. On the island south from it is a hidden Big Pearl in front of the rock. Now surf to the bigger island on the southeast to find a patch of grass with Pokémon.

Using Stoutland Search, you can find a hidden Pearl north of the grass. On the very south of the island is TM05 (Roar). That's it for the backtracking for now, back to Akala Island and on to Royal Avenue!

To Come Back For Later

• When you've filled up your Pokédex, go back to the man in front of the white board in Game Freak HQ.

• When you've completed the Island Challenge, go back to the man on the western side in Game Freak HQ.

• When you have access to something that can both swim and crush rocks, go back to Melemele Sea (Hau'oli Outskirts) to access the areas blocked by rocks
